NEW
MULTIMEDIA WORKS and hand-painted
Absolut bottle art by Jon Planas are the focus of attention during the
International San Francisco art Expo, Nov 2nd through 5th, 2000.
Absolut
Vodka artist, Jon Planas has joined forces with film producer/
designer and artist, Scott McClintock and
exhibited their artworks together at the San Francisco
Art Expo 2000. Planas showcased a new collection of his colorful
and delightful, hand-painted Absolut bottles which quickly became the
hot item at the art exhibition. Among the happy new bottle art owners
(a pair of which are seen in the photo) was the infamous
Mayor Willie Brown of San Francisco, who took a purple-colored
bottle embellished with gold and one of Planas's contemporary women's
faces. The Mayor is so delighted that he is looking to purchase an exclusive
collection for his personal holiday gifts, and declared that his painted
bottle would be PROMINENTLY displayed at San Francisco
City Hall.
Among
the other notables visiting the Planas/McClintock
booth was Scott's mother, the internationally-famous fashion designer
Jessica McClintock (see photo) who took a
minute to pose with Planas. Jessica
McClintock is a great art collector and supports the local art charities.
"My
paintings and their subject matter are changing constantly" says
Planas, who has recently begun painting a new series
of florals, a subject matter that recently attracted the artist's
interest. Planas was commissioned to paint a special
dining room piece for a client in
Beverly Hills. The client, who is an avid rose and orchid grower, took
a look at the beautiful flowers and said that "...your painting will
be a beautiful flower vase..." In fact, Planas completed the 4'x3'
canvas "Holiday Flowers" and everyone who has seen the work is mesmerized
by the vibrant colors and the serenity of the painting.
This excitement has led Planas to create more original canvases
in this style. Planas will showcase the new Holiday Floral collection
at the trendy new restaurant FELT, in West Hollywood,
sometime in early December with a big party and bottle signing. Many of
Hollywood's top celebrities are expected to attend this glamorous art
exhibition! Email us for more information and an
online invitation!
Planas also recently donated some art to two of his favorite charitable
organizations, Stop Cancer and Being Alive. For
these charities Planas created some of his famous
cat paintings, and also donated a few examples of his Absolut
bottle art! All the artworks sold quickly fetching thousands of
dollars for these to worthwhile nonprofit organizations!
Planas
shows his art with Swatch Watch artist Rascal
at the Las Vegas Venetian Hotel! Absolut
artist Jon Planas and Swatch Watch artist Rascal united their creative
forces and showed their paintings together at the Art
21 exhibition in Las Vegas. The art loving crowd was literally
blown away by the Planas Absolut bottle art
which continues to be a big hit and sell out at all galleries and art
events. In the photo Planas takes a moment away from the exhibition to
pose with Miss Las Vegas 2000. Planas bottles are now on sale at the Murano
Art Glass Store at the Venetian Hotel Shops.
Jane Seymour of Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman fame
(see photo) also exhibited her paintings, at the event, and discussed
the actual process of painting with Jon, and talked about the use of color
in Planas art as being of a "dynamic energy."
Miss Seymour's costar Chad Allen is already one of many famous young actor
Planas collectors, owning a collection of 7 original canvases. Planas
also sold a collection of bottles to Joan Zane,
the President and Director of Vendome Editions,
one of the most prestigious art galleries and publishers on an international
level. There is talk of doing a Planas exclusive show in Palm Desert sometime
in the Spring!
Planas
travels quite often to NYC these days for business and to see friends.
Planas hails originally from Great Neck, Long Islands.

During
his last visit to NYC he attended the art opening of Brenda
Kravitz at the Friars Club with friend Liz Derringer,
super male model Marcus Scheckenberg, Hope
Perlman (daughter of billionaire Ron
Perlman) and many others of the creme de la creme of the NYC social set
(see photo.) Planas chatted with Sally Jesse Rafael,
about art and their recollections of the early eighties when Sally
Jesse wore an
original Planas hand-painted jacket.
During this trip Planas was on the scene at the reopening of the famous
Studio 54 club, and talk is that his artwork
will soon be shown at the new NYC hot spot bearing that name!
